Blog Spamming and Stamina

One of the most irritating aspects of the "free blog press" is how hard spammers want to get your attention with dr--- (bleep), s--(bleep) and gam-----(bleep) through the comment facility. I currently have one trying everything under the sun to get published on this blog. I say GIVE IT UP! READ THE POST SCRIPT. COMMENTS ARE MODERATED BECAUSE OF SC---BA---(bleep)(bleep) LIKE YOU.I feel better getting that off my chest! I am sure there will be retaliation. But, I DON"T GIVE A (bleep)! I'm in the mood for a Blog (bleep). This just (bleeps) me off!
The next version, MovableType 3.2, is supposed to be better. I've got to migrate soon.

I use a combination of Spam Karma and Bad Behavior -- two wordpress plugins. Between the two of them I don't have much problem.
Hi there.
I only have experience with Akismet for Wordpress designed by the same author (Matt and his team). Very good stuff - highly recommend! But, of course you can use it if you switch to Wordpress. Akismet catches probably 98% of spam for me so far and it learns from whatever I mark spam too. I had a big problem before - a couple of dozen spam comments a day - now, I can have maximum 2 or 3 a week - everything else is stored in the Spam box by Akismet .
Not sure if my comment is helpful since you're using Movable Type. Great blog by the way :)

Thanks jf, Jim Duncan put me on to Spam Karma but haven't figured out how to implement it in MovableType...MT Version 3.2 is supposed to have better built in tools too. I am not quite as frustrated as the post might look...It is controllable at this point but frustrating.
Hi Merv, we had a deluge of spam before we installed Spam Karma 2: it's a wordpress plug in at present but keep a watch until it can work w/typepad. Unbelievably good
