Kris Berg | A breath of fresh air
November 30, 2006
I watched (and read) with amusement and dismay at the nuclear war going on at the BloodhoundBlog between Greg Swann and Keith (Bubble is as good a last name as any) at HousingPanic. It seemed to be a complete waste of Greg's energy and creative talent, which is abundant. To say it got ugly is an understatement. This is (was) a war of ideas, opinions, verbs, adjectives and nouns (and other derogatory forms of expression) which no one wins. I don't have a clue how it got started but, it never should have. Boys, where did the high road go?
This brings me to what Greg is assembling at his consistently outstanding musings: a collection of outstanding Bloggers from around the nation becoming BloodhoundBlog team contributors. One of those is Kris Berg, author of The San Diego Home Blog. Her first opinion article is superb: Play nice, and No Comments! As a consummate (real estate) Mom, she sent both bad boys to their rooms. I say it is long overdue and a breath of fresh air. She also provides one of the best responses to REALTOR® bashing I have come across. Kris' San Diego Home Blog is now on the favorites list. The BloodhoundBlog just might be one of the top five serious real estate Blogs in the nation and it appears Greg is on the way to being number one no matter how you measure it. In my opinion, staying on the high road is a sure way of getting there.

David, well said...wordy, over the top articles don't do it for me. There is ego in play that will doom success if not careful. Brilliant people are often their own worst enemy.
Greg started the war with an unprofessional attack on HousingPanic with a "masterbation" reference. Just disgusting. HousingPanic offered a truce in a private email and then Greg posted that on his blog, with another attack
If he's one of the "top 5 real estate blogs" then realtors are indeed doomed. The guy doesn't even own a house.
Jennifer,
Great question. I'll attempt to answer (or maybe waffle) in my very next article. I assume you are in the Washington DC Metro area. Maybe a wrong assumption. Good to have fellow Realtors reading. Thanks.
Merv - As one of the realtors in this area who analyzes data how are the Fairfax and Loudoun markets doing ? And what can we expect in 2007 ?
R. the beauty of this medium is the sharing of collective knowledge...I added html to your comment to get the link displayed. I'll certainly check it out. And, thanks a zillion for the endorsement!
Jay, you're "dead on"... thanks for the link, you are added to mine.
I'm not sure if you guys are already aware of this blog CalculatedRisk Blog. It often discusses the economic data and the housing market. It is an economics blog and not a Real Estate only blog. Of course Real Estate has become the hot button issue for most economists over the last 5 years. I think you may find the macro data analysis there second to none and an environment that is respectful of different opinions without the namecalling of some bubble blogs.
Of course the best place for data on the resale market for Loudoun or Fairfax is right here with Merv.
Merv - I couldn't agree more. I blogged about Kris' post too (and yeah, it did the same trackback thing. But I left it linked. It's a winner...
*Great* blog you have here by the way! I've got to add it to my reader and blogroll ASAP!
A little clarification for my readers:
Kris specifically asked for "no comments" on her article on the BloodhoundBlog. I linked to the article that automatically turned into a comment based on the way the BloodhoundBlog is configured. I removed the link from my article and sent Kris a personal email. Thanks Kris for the speed of light response!
At any rate, I think we may have just expanded our Blogging universe of friends.
Oh, the link is back in...don't ask.
Alright, Merv. I suppose you didn't technically violate my "no comments" rule with a trackback. :) Thanks for the kind words!
